Easter Festival Service with Holy Communion |
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of our Lenten journey. The Ash Wednesday service will include the imposition of ashes and holy communion. Note - there will be no confirmation on Ash Wednesday.
Lenten
Suppers will be provided each Wednesday during Lent
(except for Holy Week), at 5:30 p.m. on a free-will offering
basis. Meals will be soup and bread. The focus of the meal,
the evening, and the season of Lent will be on trusting God
to have our daily needs met.
Palm Sunday - Come for a celebration of Christ's triumphant entry to Jerusalem with palm branches, music, and holy communion. Stay for the Youth
eggbake breakfast - the Newport Luther League will be doing an eggbake breakfast fund raiser from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Palm Sundy. Note also that the NLC Annual Meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Palm Sunday.
First
Communion for Fourth and Fifth Graders will be celebrated on Thursday,
April 21st, during the Maundy Thursday service.

Maundy
Thursday - Worship with Holy Communion
On Maundy Thursday we take time to reflect on the meaning
of the Last Supper of our Lord as he shared a meal with
his twelve closest friends. Jesus was the host and
the meal. He was the master and the servant, teaching
his disciples that they must also love and serve each other.
We share the meal of our Lord on that day and we welcome
our 5th graders to the meal for their first experience at
the table of the Lord. The service ends as we strip
the altar of all adornments to remember Christ's humiliation.
Good
Friday - Tenebrae Service
Easter
Saturday - The Vigil of Easter with Holy Communion
Through prayer and scripture, the elements of this service
help us to come to terms with the cross event while it prepares
us for the good news of Easter day.
Easter
Sunday - 9:00 a.m. - Festival worship with Holy Communion.
This is the feast of victory for our God! We gather in great joy and celebration to hear the news - to share the news - to live news that Christ is risen from the grave. Death no longer has any power over us. As we worship, we show no restraint in proclaiming our Easter joy. Special celebration music highlights this festival service.
Guests
are always welcome! Come join us!
